Is the Dubai City Pass worth it?

The Dubai City Pass is a popular product that covers many of the major attractions and attractive tourist services. In this section we answer the question whether the City Pass is financially worthwhile.

How much does the Dubai City Pass cost?

The price of the Dubai City Passes depends on the period of validity. The longer the pass is valid, the cheaper it is per day of use:

  • 1 day: $148
  • 2 days: $211
  • 3 days: $264 = $88 per day
  • 4 days: $306
  • 5 days: $359
  • 6 days: $412
  • 7 days: $464 = $66 per day

These prices do not include Burj Khalifa and La Perle by Dragone. If you wish to use these offers, you will have to pay an additional surcharge.

To make the Dubai City Pass worthwhile, you should either visit many high-priced attractions in a short period of time or visit many expensive and inexpensive attractions in a longer period of time.

For children between 4 and 12 years old, the Dubai City Pass is cheaper.

Sample calculation: Is it worth it?

Whether the Dubai City Pass is worth it depends on which sights you want to visit, how long the City Pass is valid for, and how many offers you take advantage of in the time available.

The following example shows whether the Dubai City Pass is worth it for three days:

AttractionPrice with Dubai City PassPrice without Dubai City Pass
Dubai City Pass: 3 days$264
Burj Khalifa$42$46
Desert Safari incl. Dinner$0$92
48 hrs hop-on/hop-off bus$0$85
Premium speedboat tour$0$81
The View at the Palm$0$27
Lost Chambers Aquarium$0$37
Atlantis Aquaventure$0$86
Total$306$454

In this example, you benefit from a very good savings. This can be even higher if you take advantage of additional leisure activities or visit even more attractions during the three days. Even if you do less sightseeing, you can still make a saving with the Dubai City Pass.

If you are not interested in several of the above services, the Dubai City Pass is less worthwhile.

Disadvantages of the Dubai City Pass

The Dubai City Pass is a good product, but not free of flaws. The following arguments speak rather against the purchase of the City Pass. Each traveler must decide for himself how heavy these criteria weigh.

Multiple tickets: The Dubai City Pass is a bit confusing because it is not a single digital product, but several tickets. In any case, you should read through the documentation after purchase to be well prepared.

Not all inclusive: Two offers are not included in the purchase price, but have to be paid extra. These are the Burj Khalifa and La Perle by Dragone.

Only worth it for expensive services: You should especially use the most expensive services so that the Dubai City Pass is really worth it. This concerns for example the hop-on/hop-off bus and the speedboat tour.

High cancellation fee: You can cancel your purchase up to one day before the first day of validity. However, this will incur a fee of 30 euros per City Pass.

Reservations required: For many attractions and tours you need to reserve an appointment yourself. The reservation must be made at least 24 hours before the visit. Although this will reduce waiting times, you will have to take care of it on your own.
